Common EDTA products include ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, edetate disodium, edetate tetrasodium, edetate zinc sodium, edetate copper sodium salt, edetate manganese Sodium, Calcium Sodium EDTA, Sodium Ferric EDTA… These all belong to the EDTA family series of products, let’s get to know these EDTA family members one by one.

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid（EDTA）

Molecular formula: C10H16N2O8

Product properties: white powder. The solubility in water at 25°C is 0.5g/L. Insoluble in cold water, alcohol, and general organic solvents. Soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, and ammonia solution.

Main application: as a complexing agent in the electroplating solution, and also as a pH regulator in the nickel plating solution. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and formamide can be cyclized to obtain ethylimine. This is a drug that is primarily used to treat psoriasis, known as psoriasis.

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt （disodium EDTA）

Product Properties: Tasteless, odorless, or slightly salty white or milky white crystalline or granular powder, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in water, very difficult to dissolve in ethanol.

Main application: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt is used as a bleaching and fixing solution for the processing of color-photosensitive materials, and also as a water purifier, pH regulator, chelating agent, sequestering agent, and anticoagulant. It is also used in textile printing and dyeing, detergent, metal coating, and metallurgical industries. Properly add Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt in the process of making food. Its ingredients can promote the oxidation of oil and can effectively prevent food from discoloring.

Sodium edetate （EDTA NA4）

Molecular formula: C10H12N2Na4O8

Product properties: white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and acid, but insoluble in alcohol, benzene, and chloroform.

Main application: Used as a chelating agent, an initiator for the polymerization of styrene-butadiene rubber, an initiator for acrylic fibers, etc. Used as a solvent, also used in rubber and dye industries. It is used as an ammonia carboxyl complexing agent, synthetic rubber catalyst, and also as a water softener in fiber refining, bleaching, and dyeing industries.

Product properties: white crystalline powder, easily soluble in water

Main use: As a trace element nutrient, used in the food industry, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Used as a complexing agent, clinically used in the poisoning treatment of lead, mercury, and radioactive element split products.

EDTA ferric sodium salt

Molecular formula: C10H12FeN2NaO8

Product properties: light earth yellow crystalline powder, stable in nature, unchanged in storage, soluble in water and acid.

Main use: It can be used as a nutritional supplement (iron) or iron nutrition fortification. EDTA ferric sodium salt is an ideal iron supplement, which can be widely used in flour, soy sauce, health care products, dairy products, medicines, etc.

Zinc disodium EDTA

Product properties: white crystalline powder, easily soluble in water, zinc exists in a chelated state

Product properties: Micro pink powder, easily soluble in water
